Seriously, I just put away my pumpkins! 🙂 I have been slow to decorate this year but find myself catching the holiday spirit as I clean and get ready for my Holiday Open Studio next weekend. Although there are many beautifully decorated shops at the Velvet Mill, where my studio is located, my studio’s main function is a work space. It is a place for me to get messy, work out new ideas and teach. As neat as I would like to keep it I usually end up with piles of “stuff” ~ unfinished paintings, artists books, images culled from magazines for inspiration, and art supplies scattered about. Once or twice a year I clean it all up, re-imagine it and invite people in.
I always feel a little bit vulnerable opening my studio. It’s like letting someone into your home and wanting to make a really good impression but not knowing what to expect. However, the desire to share my work, treasure old friends, meet new friends and share a little holiday cheer outweighs my vulnerability, so I hope to see you!
