An Artist Date to “Gardens by the Sea”

My garden is one of my biggest creative projects in the summer.

I love visiting other gardens and getting inspired so I took myself on an artist date with some friends to the “Gardens by the Sea”. This is an enchanting local garden tour in the neighboring Borough of Stonington, CT.

The garden tour takes place every three years and is something I very much look forward to.

You have a special opportunity to peek into exquisitely manicured and rarely seen gardens. Each one has its own special charm and is delightful in its own way.

Some are small pocket gardens with intriguing stonework and patios while others offer a diversity of waterfront vistas, lush and unusual plantings, and more formal perennial beds.

Artists can be seen plein air painting in the gardens which is always fun.

In addition to the gardens themselves, when you walk through the Stonington Borough’s quaint downtown you are engulfed with the most gorgeous window boxes.

I get so much color inspiration from them.

Can you guess which ones are my favorite?

I always love seeing water features and sculptures in the garden.

They give a sense of the owner’s personality, much like a painting in a home.

On our tour, we stopped at Cove Ledge Beer, Wine & Spirits which is a lovely place to pick up some specialty wine and liquor which we did 😊.

While there we got to see my good friend Annie Wildey who had her beautiful wave paintings in a special pop-up gallery for the day.

Isn’t she so cute?

It was such an amazing day!

I highly recommend doing the garden tour should you have a chance, and if you can’t wait three years for it to come around again, a visit to the Stonington Borough, Connecticut’s oldest village is always a special treat.

View from the beautiful harbor.

Sending cheery smiles & love your way 💞
