YAY for today!
I think I am still on a high from my road trip to the Brimfield Antique Show last week! I go every year in May & in September with my friend Sue. We are giddy from the time we pull out of the driveway in Brett’s big o’l truck, until the time we get home, exhausted from our day, but still swooning over all our treasures.
Like the change of the seasons, this trip always inspires a little re-styling in my home. I am constantly moving things around and freshening things up. I have also been incorporating some of my new finds from Brimmy and thought I would share a few with you. I fell in love with this cute mint green owl planter.
I paired it with this painting called, “Bright Sunshiny day”. It was inspired by the warm turquoise blue ocean water that stays with me from my Caribbean travels. The happy little flowers remind me of spending time with friends. I added the punches of color and polka dots as a reminder to find the sunshine and whimsy in each day. These colors have a nice summery vibe don’t you think?

My sweet husband Brett has been making these gorgeous frames for me out of the most lovely hardwood that he sources. I am in love with the natural color and beauty of the wood. No two pieces are the same, making each frame really special.

I also thought the planter would look cute with these three little vintage owls I found at an estate sale some years back. Owls always remind me of my inner wisdom.
I have a thing for chippy painted objects and fell in love with the texture of this white charger. I styled it here with the green vase I found at Brimmy, but think it would be equally as cute styled flat with a candle or flowers on it. Might have to bookmark that idea for our annual Memorial Day wine party coming up 🙂.
The azaleas are starting to pop in my garden and the color has been reflected in some of my work. This little painting is called, “Pop of Spring“. It was inspired by the poppy pods I saved from last year. The pods have such a remarkable form. I painted them pink as I think it is such a happy color.
Thought you may enjoy the flower symbolism associated with poppies:
restful sleep and recovery
a lively imagination
beauty & success
Sometimes just a little pop of color is all you need on a shelf to freshen things up.
